Version 0.2.0-preview · MIT or Apache 2.0, whichever suits you.

1. Download it, open it.

An ordinary installer. No Docker, no account to create, no API key.

2. Pick your model.

Apollia never picks one for you. The first time you open it, the app shortlists the models that run well on the machine you are actually sitting at, then downloads and installs the one you choose. Change your mind any time.

3. Give it a job.

The agent goes to work, you watch what it does, and you keep the final say.

NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARD

Two builds, one question.

Do you have a recent NVIDIA card?

No, or I have no idea

Take the default, the one offered at the top of this page. Its inference engine is compiled for Vulkan, which means it accelerates on NVIDIA, AMD and Intel cards with nothing to configure, and falls back to the processor when no graphics driver is present.

Yes, an NVIDIA

Faster on recent NVIDIA cards. The download is a good deal heavier, and on a machine without an NVIDIA card this build buys you nothing. On Linux it exists only as an Ubuntu or Debian package: any other distribution takes the default build, which accelerates through Vulkan on the same cards.

Still hesitating? Take the default. You can install the other one later without losing anything. macOS does not enter into it: the Apple Silicon bundle already ships its engine compiled for Metal.

The command-line archives are self-contained and come without an installer: unpack one, then run ./apollia-os.sh start on Unix or apollia-os.bat start on Windows.

The Windows and Linux desktop bundles ship an inference engine compiled for Vulkan, which accelerates on all three brands of graphics card. On macOS Apple Silicon the bundle ships Metal instead. Voice dictation is the one part that stays on the processor everywhere except macOS.

THE FIRST TIME YOU OPEN IT

One gesture per system, once.

macOS

macOS asks you to confirm the first time: right-click the app, then Open. From a terminal, xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Apollia OS.app" does the same thing.

Windows

SmartScreen shows a warning the first time the installer runs. Click More info, then Run anyway.

Linux

The AppImage has to be made executable before its first launch: chmod +x Apollia-OS_0.2.0-1_amd64.AppImage. The Debian package installs with sudo apt install ./Apollia-OS_0.2.0-1_amd64.deb.

All three come from the same fact: the installers are not signed yet. The macOS bundle carries an ad hoc signature rather than an Apple Developer ID, the Windows installer is not Authenticode signed, and no package signature is planned for Linux.

CHECK WHAT YOU DOWNLOADED

Checksums and signature.

The checksums

Every command-line archive is published with its .sha256 and two software bills of materials, CycloneDX and SPDX. Compare them with shasum -a 256 <file> on macOS and Linux, or certutil -hashfile <file> SHA256 on Windows.

A single inventory also covers every published file, desktop installers included.

The signature

The release pipeline signs every published file with a keyless Sigstore signature, laid down beside it under the same name followed by .cosign.bundle. It attaches a build provenance attestation to the installers, the archives and the software bills of materials.

cosign verify-blob --bundle <file>.cosign.bundle \
  --certificate-identity-regexp 'https://github.com/Apollia-OS/apollia-os/.*' \
  --certificate-oidc-issuer https://token.actions.githubusercontent.com \
  <file>

Needs no key you have to trust in advance: it traces back to the workflow that built the file.
